Make Wise Choices

I was a junior in high school when I intentionally 'rolled through' a stop sign in my small town. I said to my brother John, "I didn't see that stop sign, did you?" He said, "Nope. And I hope that cop behind us didn't see it either." In that moment, flashing lights and a siren started up behind me. I went from prideful to humble in less than a second. I bought my own car and paid my own insurance, and I most certainly would be paying my own ticket. At $2.50/hr I'd need to throw a lot of hay bales and shovel a lot of manure to pay this ticket.

Suddenly running stop signs was not such a fun idea. Have you ever done something foolish that you instantly regretted? God has a lot to say about foolish behavior. "When I was a child I thought like a child, I acted like a child, and I reasoned like a child, but when I became a man I put away childish things." "A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in showing off his foolishness."

And it isn't simply those unwise things that you choose to do, it's bad decisions about who you associate with. God also says, "A companion of fools suffers harm." Learn from your mistakes, make wise choices, hang out with Christian friends, and you will be blessed! -Pastor Brad
