Not That We Loved
In John 17:11 Jesus prayed for his followers, "I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world and I am coming to you Holy Father. Protect them by the power of YOUR name- THE NAME YOU GAVE ME- so that they may be one as we are one." The name Jesus (in Greek pronounced Ee-Ay-Soos) literally means "The Lord Saves," or, "God Is Salvation." This is the name the angel told Mary and Joseph to give to the child she would bring into the world. The angel said, "You are to give him the name 'Jesus' because he will save his people from their sins." "This is love- not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins." "How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called the children of God, and that is what we are." "For God so loved the world (that's you and it's me) that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life." Be blessed! -Pastor Brad
