Make Something New
Years ago, Laura and the kids were at a stop light in Anchorage when a truck going 35 miles an hour plowed into the back end of them. Thankfully they didn't have permanent injuries, but the insurance Company said that our car was a total loss. Let me tell you something- just because they said it doesn't mean it's true.
I bought the car back from the insurance company, and with a sledge hammer and a sawzall was able to get one of the back doors to still open and close. We continued to drive that car for several years until a teenager going over 50 miles an hour smashed into my front driver side. This time it truly was a total loss.
Many people are like that car. Something devastating happens (often the result of bad choices) and the world considers their lives to be a total loss. This is where Jesus is eager to step in and make something new and beautiful out of that life. Oh, it may still be banged up, but it will 'run' better than ever before. But this isn't automatic. It requires humility and surrender. You and I have been given a role to play in these rescues. The Scripture says, "How can they believe in the one in whom they have not heard? And how can they hear unless someone tells them?" Friends, never give up on those who seem bent upon destroying their own lives. Never give up on the ones who have given up on themselves. MANY have been saved from the edge of that darkness. Keep loving. Keep praying. Be blessed! -Pastor Brad
