For God So Loved
Does God always get what God WANTS? It's not a trick question. Can anyone KEEP God from getting what he wants? Because God is all-powerful, because he is the ruler of the universe, we tend to defend him by saying, "No one can keep God from getting what he wants. Nothing can keep God from acting according to his will." But this is simply not true.
Because of God's JUSTICE (God is JUST) he cannot simply remove the consequences of sin from our world. The wages of sin is death- eternal death. God's will is that everyone would go to heaven. We know that this is true because he told us. In 2 Peter 3:9 we learn that He is patient with us, "not willing that anyone should perish but that ALL would come to repentance." And yet billions DO perish. All do NOT come to repentance.
Jesus told us the reason that he could not gather all of Jerusalem unto himself is that THEY WERE NOT WILLING. Man, not God, brought evil into this world, and man continues to do it. God is not the author of evil, He is the author of the OVERCOMING of it. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM shall not perish but have everlasting life." The LOVE of God (for us) led to the SACRIFICE of God, which satisfied the JUSTICE of God. Be blessed! -Pastor Brad
