Love Drives Out Fear
I had snowmachined into the high country with some friends, and we were stopped just below treeline. I had hunted dall sheep in this country and knew how tough the peak and ridge above me were- both to get to and to walk. Imagine my shock when I looked high above me, and, standing on a windswept rock outcropping, were four moose... in the middle of winter... on a jagged mountain... far above treeline. There was no food there, no water, and no protection from the wind. There was only one reason for those moose to be there- wolves.
FEAR can drive you places that you don't want to be. Whether we are talking about the fear of rejection, the fear of dying or the fear of not measuring up, they all lead to the same barren places. Mary, the mother of Jesus, knew that her pregnancy would shock the sensibilities of all those around her, but she wasn't afraid.
Young David knew that Goliath was a giant, armed and trained for battle, but he wasn't afraid. The Apostle Paul knew that he faced public beatings and imprisonment for sharing the gospel, but he wasn't afraid. Jesus knew as he rode the colt of a donkey into Jerusalem that he would be crucified, but he wasn't afraid.
In 1 John 4:18 God says, "There is NO FEAR in love, but perfect love drives out fear." Friend, never allow fear to drive you to unhealthy decisions. All fear comes from the devil, who wants only to destroy you. This life is a mist- a vapor- that will soon be gone, but the man or woman of God will live forever. LOVE drives out fear. Be blessed! -Pastor Brad
