Live By Faith
Just like that, everything changed.
The phone rang and I was offered a teaching job in Moore, Montana, for under $12,000 a year. Even then, that was poverty wages. In fact, the music teacher's kids were the only ones in the school who qualified for the federal free lunch program. My brothers brought home more on unemployment when they got laid off from Land O' Lakes. Fortunately, as a young single man, I didn't need much. This time I loaded up what few belongings I had and drove back (over 800 miles) to central Montana. Moore is located on the Judith Basin- a high, wide open plain surrounded by mountains. This was going to be an amazing place for a young guy who loved the woods, streams and wilderness. Think about that. In just two days I had gone from unemployed and having literally no direction in life to beginning a great adventure in a new place.
But... I had to be willing to leave my home and family... I had to be willing to work for very little income... I had to be willing to move to a new place where I didn't know a single person, much less have a friend. Opportunity often takes us away from all that is familiar. It is most often filled with unanswered questions and new challenges. In truth, far more great opportunities are 'passed on' than are actually 'missed.'
The devil uses fear to keep us from sharing Christ. He uses fear to keep us from stepping out in faith to serve. Friends, if you live in FEAR today, you will live in REGRET tomorrow. Refuse to allow fear to get in the way of living. True, you might fail, everything might go south, but you will learn much that will prepare you for the next opportunity.
More than that, you will have broken free from the rut you've been living in. A rut is simply a hole without a beginning or an end. Repeat this simple truth to yourself- "I have been crucified with Christ and now I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body I live by faith in the Son of God, who loves me and gave himself for me." THE LIFE I NOW LIVE I LIVE BY FAITH- not FEAR. -Be blessed! -Pastor Brad
