Ask God To Reveal Himself
Year two in Moore, Montana, was even busier than year one. I also taught a unit on evolution. I had been thoroughly indoctrinated and believed (as I was taught) that evolution was a proven scientific fact. In fact, I didn't know that there were ANY people who didn't believe that evolution was fact... until the parent of one of my students came with a simple request: "If you are going to teach about evolution, I would like you to give equal time to teaching about creation."
I gave her the textbook response of an unsaved teacher- "Ma'am, I teach about facts in my science classroom, not religion." I didn't give it another thought.
Like every science teacher and professor I had ever had, I regurgitated what I had been taught... and it is still happening in every public school and University in America. Let me be clear about something. The theory of evolution is not simply anti-God and anti-Scripture, it is profoundly anti-science. If a single celled organism somehow came into being, what would it feed on? There is no other organic matter. If that organism over time evolved into a frog, where did all of that extra genetic information come from? It didn't exist.
Though I couldn't see it, I had two major problems as a young teacher. First, though I had been taught many so-called facts about how the world came to be, I had never been taught to THINK (nor had any of my teachers or professors). Second, though I thought I was a Christian, I was actually as lost as lost can be. It was impossible for me to point my students to a Jesus I didn't know. I genuinely loved my students. I worked hard. I was getting a lot of things right, but I got the most important thing wrong.
Friends, don't let that be true for you. Jesus said, "What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul?" Get away from your dead religious church. Find a pastor who stands on the Word of God. Get a Bible and begin reading Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Ask God to reveal himself to you, and you- very soon- will become a child of God. Be blessed! -Pastor Brad
