Prepare Spiritually

I forgot rope and a tow strap. Hunting solo with an ATV requires thoughtful preparation. It is very common, especially when going through mucky terrain, to need far more than 50 feet of winch cable. Trees don't grow in the muckholes, and without another machine, trees are all you have for an 'anchor' to winch out. I usually have a tow strap and 100 feet of heavy rope.

Because I didn't have those things- because I wasn't properly prepared- I took some risks I should not have taken. Believe it or not, sometimes the 'safe' route is the one where you simply drive in, get stuck, and winch out. But I couldn't risk getting stuck. I tried to blast around a treacherous muckhole on a high shelf that was only wide enough for my left side wheels.

Yesterday was glorious and sunny. I drove my ATV 58 miles into remote mountains. Though sunny, I got soaking wet 3 times- twice plunging in to cross a deep river as water flowed over the top of my machine. I'm sure you can guess the other time. Preparation is the key to successful living.

This is why Jesus often withdrew to lonely places to pray, and why he spent the night in prayer prior to his crucifixion. When we are spiritually unprepared to face the day, we miss opportunities to share Christ, we speak or act in ways that are not honoring to God, and we sometimes take risks we would never have taken if we had been walking more closely with the Lord. Don't just get up and go- prepare spiritually for your day, and you will be blessed! -Pastor Brad
