Make A Commitment

This was not life-or-death, but it was most definitely an emergency situation. My gun boot was under the sludgy water, my gas can was bobbing up-and-down in the water behind me,  and the only solution was for me to stand up a machine and gear that weighs well over 1,200 pounds. On my first attempt at lifting, the machine didn't even budge. I was asking, "Lord, help me. Help me. Help me, Jesus. Help me."

I crouched deeper into the muck so that I could use my legs to lift, and in the midst of my prayer, it began to slowly rise out of the grey water. Pushing with my right arm on the handle bar and my head under the side of the machine, I continued to pray and lift with everything in me. I almost made it- I would have made it- except that I wasn't tall enough. I was standing half underwater and in a deep rut, and with my arms fully extended the machine almost reached the 'tipping point' where it would have come down properly on its wheels- almost.

There are so many times in life when we 'almost' do what we need to do. We 'almost' shared our faith with a family member or friend, we 'almost' prayed with an unbeliever who desperately needed it, we 'almost' volunteered to serve in children's ministry, we 'almost' signed up for a Bible study. Friends, you will not have a deeper spiritual encounter with Christ unless you OBEY the Holy Spirit PROMPTLY!

'Almost' doesn't cut it! The time is short and you only get one opportunity to live THIS day, THIS week, and THIS year. Invest your precious life in things that will matter for eternity. Make a commitment- sign up today- don't live with the regret of 'almost.' Be blessed! -Pastor Brad
