Risks Worth Taking
For those who hunt off the road system in Alaska with ATV's, 'scouting' before the hunting season serves two main purposes. First, it tells you if there's any game in the area; and, second, it tells you the condition of the trail going in. In my experience, the trails most often fall into one of three categories: 'hard and occasionally dangerous', 'extremely hard and very dangerous', or, 'we can't get through.'
After an unfortunate incident out in the wilderness last week, my wife Laura told me, "Don't go anywhere with deep mud holes or deep river crossings." I replied, "You mean I can't hunt in Alaska?" Her point is well taken. What she means is, "Don't take unnecessary risks with this precious life God has given you." I completely agree. There is no end to the unnecessary and foolish risks that people take.
But as Christians, life is also filled with very necessary risks: taking a stand for righteousness in front of friends or family who disagree, sharing your faith with a loved one, inviting a stranger to church, bringing God the first 10% of your income (after all, he says it belongs to HIM, not to YOU). Friend, these and many more are risks worth taking! Your life is meant to be an adventure! So- take a deep breath, step out your door, and allow God to use you today! Live this way, and you will be blessed! -Pastor Brad
