Properly Equipped
I was new to sheep hunting and new to wilderness hunting in general. My tent cost $20 and my sleeping bag cost less than that. My 'rain gear' was thin plastic jacket and pants that came in a tiny ziploc bag and cost a $1.99. I tell you this because I spent a night in the black spruce at the foot of a mountain in the pouring rain. My tent was not waterproof and I could have 'bailed' the water off of the floor of the tent with a cup. My sleeping bag was drenched and I simply shivered until morning.
I did have dry clothes, so when I got up in the morning I put on those and my thin, rain gear, stepped out into the rain and began to climb through the brush. By the time I made it through the alders, the only thing that remained of my rain gear was a little shredded plastic around my wrists and ankles. Everything else was gone, and I was soaked to the skin. I was learning the importance of being properly equipped- the hard way. The same thing is true in every area of life.
Being properly equipped for your job- having the right training and necessary gear- is essential for success. God tells us that it is even more important that we be equipped spiritually. This begins with a thorough knowledge of the Word of God. We need to READ Scripture, STUDY Scripture, MEMORIZE Scripture, and APPLY it to our daily lives. This allows us to walk out the door each morning with confidence that we will be able to meet whatever we encounter, whether trial or temptation, in a way that pleaes the Lord. Make certain that you are properly equipped every morning- before you start your day- and you will be blessed! -Pastor Brad
