Richly Rewarded
And so I finally learned. My 'empty' pack when hunting in the wilderness includes warm gear, rain gear, spotting scope, tripod, binoculars, rifle, ammo, knives. game bags, food, water, fire starters, phone and more. If I am packing for overnight, then add a tent, sleeping bag, cook stove, fuel, sleeping pad, extra clothes, head lamps, first aid kit, and more food.
Carrying all of that weight is a little disheartening when you are climbing a steep mountain, and yet I could not count the number of times I have been thankful that I paid the price to be prepared. Preparation COSTS you. Not just money, it takes TIME. It takes ENERGY. It takes FOCUS and COMMITMENT. 1 Peter 1:13 begins, "Therefore, prepare your minds for action."
In other words, if you get your head right and your thinking right, you'll be ready for whatever you might encounter. Study your Bible. Pray. Memorize Scripture. Ask God for opportunities to be a witness- to share your faith- to invite others to church or your Bible study. The time and effort that goes into preparation will be richly rewarded! Be blessed! -Pastor Brad
