Follow Jesus
Proverbs 3:5-6 (AMP) "In all your ways know, acknowledge and recognize him and he will make your paths straight and smooth, removing obstacles that block your way." I took a giant step up from a chainsaw (which is still needed) to an excavator. I'm trying to remove obstacles. I'm trying to make paths at my cabin. Those who love the outdoors understand the pleasure of discovering a good path or trail.
In Alaska, we feel it even more intensely. Why? Because without a path we are navigating through dense brush that includes deadfalls and muckholes, high grass and devil's club. We are getting wet, tired, and miserable, stirring up mosquitoes or biting 'no-see-ums' with every step. A good path completely changes the experience from misery to joy.
Jesus offers us that good path. True, it IS narrow. The devil offers many enticing side trails, but most of us have learned from painful experience that they take us to a dark, difficult place. Friends, the smooth path isn't always easy, but it's always good. There are a few steep climbs and dark valleys, but the footing is always firm. Perhaps you need to clear a few obstacles to get back on the right path.
Maybe a friendship is leading you away from the Lord rather than toward him. Maybe you have a habit or hobby that is keeping you 'just off' the right path. Friends, the narrow path is so worth taking. Follow Jesus on that path and you will be blessed! -Pastor Brad
