Surrender Your Preferences
I detest hunting from a treestand. I still do it- willingly- when I have the opportunity, it's just hard for me to sit patiently for hours hoping that something will walk by. I'm a wanderer at heart. I love the experience of silently hiking up and down hills and through valleys- always listening- always looking. Yet even though I prefer walking, I have seen a great deal more wildlife and been far more successful while I've been sitting still.
Very often the key to success is to surrender our personal preferences and do those things that are uncomfortable for us. Sharing our faith with neighbors can be like that. Volunteering to serve in a ministry can be like that. When we step outside of our comfort zone we discover that we are in the IMPACT zone. Truly, this is where life gets exciting. This is where profound layers of meaning and fulfillment are added to your life.
One of Jesus's disciples said, "Lord, we have given up everything to follow you." Surrender your discomfort. Surrender your unwillingness to step into new territory in the name of Jesus. Surrender your preferences. Instead of responding to what YOU want NOW, live your life according to what GOD wants MOST. Do this, and you will be blessed! -Pastor Brad
