Fix Your Eyes On Jesus
A friend and I once spent hours on the ice- in the rain- crossing Kennicott Glacier. We had no crampons, ice axes, or ropes. We had no maps or aerial photos. We were picking our route 'as we were going' with no idea what lay before us. Only one thing kept us motivated and on track- we could see our destination. So many of life's wrong turns- bad decisions- stresses, fears, and anxieties- could be avoided if we would keep our eyes focused on our destination.
Hebrews 12:2 says, "Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning it's shame, and sat down at the right hand of God." 'What would Jesus do?' is not a cliche- it's a way of living. When we focus on HIM, we are generous and kind and patient and forgiving. When we focus on HIM, we dedicate ourselves to loving God and loving others.
Because we walk intimately with Christ, our primary responsibility and great burden is to point lost people to Christ. After all, Jesus said, "The Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost." The WAY- the RIGHT way- the ONLY way to live continuously under God's hand of blessing is to truly follow Jesus. When Satan comes to distract you with hard things, fix your eyes on Jesus, and you will be blessed! -Pastor Brad
