Establish A Goal
For many years I have found that 'getting' in shape and 'staying' in shape do not come automatically. More than that, both are in many ways unpleasant. What I want NOW is a terrible master. What I want NOW is to eat more than I should and exercise less than I should. Our physical bodies make wonderful servants, but when allowed to lead, they soon become tyrants and dictators, don't they?
So here is today's question for you (and for me): Are you willing to sacrifice what you want NOW for what you want MOST? Perhaps what you want NOW is an extra hour of sleep, but what you want MOST is more intimacy with God. Get up! Spend that hour in worship and in the Word. Pray for your spouse and children and unsaved friends and family. Thank God, specifically naming all of the wonderful things that are part of your life, yes, but also thank him for the strength and wisdom to walk through difficult times.
Perhaps what you want NOW is to overeat or just simply sit in your chair, but what you want MOST is to be physically fit. Friends, your body won't train itself. Again, get up! Establish a goal. Share it with several friends. Ask God to bring someone to join you in your journey. Live this way and you WILL be blessed! -Pastor Brad
