Christ In You

By the time I skinned my bear, boned out the meat and packed it out of the mountains, it was after midnight. As I pulled into our apartment in Chugiak, I was excited to show Laura my bear. We had been married 8 months and she did not grow up in a hunting family. We lived upstairs in a 4-plex with thin walls, so I was being as quiet as I could. It turns out that Laura was sleeping.

When I turned on the bedroom light, she sat up quickly with a confused look on her face, looked at me, and began to scream. I don't mean a little scream. I mean a horror movie scream that could be heard for a mile. I had forgotten that my face was completely covered in camouflage and that my hands and arms were covered with dried blood up to my elbows. My rushing near to reassure her didn't have the intended effect, but my loud whispering, "It's me, it's me, it's me!" finally registered.

We're not always aware of the way that other people see us, are we? Much of the lost world, because they've been so effectively influenced by our national media, sees Christians as judgemental and hypocritical. You may be the first genuine Christian a person ever meets. We are not simply to TELL them the truth about Christians and Christ- we are to SHOW them.

They need to SEE that we are loving and kind and generous. They need to SEE that we are patient and truthful and forgiving. Because- let me tell you- upon your first meeting, that is NOT how they see you! When you change how an unbeliever sees Christians, you will change how he or she sees Christ. Let the world see Christ IN you, and God will use you in a mighty way! Be blessed! -Pastor Brad
