Faith Chooses Joy

I had this trip planned for months. Even so, 3 of my 4 flights were canceled. They swapped my aisle seat in row 7 for 31F. My 5 hour drive to Atlanta included coming to a complete stop three times on the Interstate. I learned long ago that if I am doing all that I can to move forward, then I just need to let the day unfold. Impatience solves nothing. It's like the person who said, "If you allow the snow to rob you of your joy, you'll have less joy, but the same amount of snow."

This applies to all of those things that are outside of our control. I choose to be joyful. I chose to be polite to those people who were trying to untangle my delays. Let's be candid- many Christians DO NOT CHOOSE JOY. Believe me, it IS a choice. It is within your power to control your emotions- to not let life get the better of you- to have a positive attitude even in the middle of difficult circumstances. How is this possible? By remembering the truth.

We live in a broken world. Bad things are going to happen and people are going to die. HOWEVER, we have a REDEEMER. We have a FUTURE, and now, for a little while, we have a MISSION! Allow God to use your difficulties, delays and disruptions for his glory. The Apostle Paul never complained about being unlawfully imprisoned.

Instead, he made certain that everyone he came into contact with heard about salvation through Jesus Christ. The Scripture doesn't simply tell us to be joyful, it says, "Be joyful ALWAYS." The simple truth is this: FAITH chooses JOY. Be blessed! -Pastor Brad
