Rest
Clear skies, stars and a quarter moon. My phone says 11 degrees but it's colder than that here. Something inside me has been rebelling against climbing. Perhaps it's jet lag or recovering from two busy weeks of work and travel. Sometimes I need to remind myself that Jesus rested. I often feel guilty when I'm not busy.
God created our bodies to be very active, but think of this: He created us to need rest roughly 8 hours of every day, and 1 full day out of every 7. It is important for us to remember that this was God's DESIGN for us. Created for work, true, but also created to rest- to be refreshed- to have joyful gatherings with worship and laughter and feasting.
In David's beautiful 23rd Psalm God not only guards us from evil, He makes us lie down in green pastures, He leads us beside still waters, and David said, "He restores my soul." So yes, work and WORK HARD. Work is a gift from God. But never forget that REST is also a gift, and one that we are commanded to receive. Work, then REST, and you will be blessed! -Pastor Brad
