Do Hard Things
Several weeks ago I got ready to climb. I set out my crampons, poles, gaitors, boots, headlamps, pack and gear. I put on my climbing clothes and was ready to go. Then Laura reminded me of an important appointment early that morning. I didn't have time to climb. Then for three weeks or so, there were many mornings when I COULD have climbed, I just lacked motivation. Yesterday I finally did it- my first winter climb of the season.
Why have I been putting it off? Because I knew what I was facing. It was very cold, very long, and physically very unpleasant. But... I was continuously thankful, continuously praising our wonderful Savior, continuously praying... There are many unpleasant things in life that are good for us. That's just the way it is.
The Apostle Paul said, "I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave." My goal is that my Spirit will control my body (rather than the other way around). So... I put on my gear... take a deep breath... and climb. Join me. Take control of your body- exercise- do hard things- and you will be blessed! -Pastor Brad
