Don't Quit
My pack, with my entire camp AND a whole Dall sheep, was so heavy and the mountain so steep that I continuously had an image in my mind of my knee joints bursting like you pop the knuckle on a chicken bone. Soon my quad muscles were quivering like jelly. For a long time it seemed like my goal- a tiny patch of snow on the valley floor- was not getting any closer. My exhaustion seemed to increase the weight I was carrying.
My perception that I was not getting any closer was a source of frustration and discouragement. But here's the deal- I REFUSED TO QUIT. So many times in life people allow exhaustion, frustration and discouragement to keep them from attaining their goals. The Apostle Paul said that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize. Then he tells us to "RUN TO WIN."
Quitting seems like the easier path, and for a short while that's always true... for a SHORT while. But then you have to deal with embarrassment, shame, and the frustration of living in the same old rut. Friends, YOU ARE STRONGER THAN YOU THINK. If it's a worthy goal, set your resolve. DON'T QUIT, and you will be blessed! -Pastor Brad
