Outside Your Comfort Zone

When Laura and I taught school in rural Alaska, we were each allowed to take one caribou. The problem (from Laura's perspective) is that she was not a hunter. In fact, she would not even cut up a whole chicken that you bought at the grocery store. I, however, had no intention of shooting HER caribou. We needed the meat- she needed to hunt. It was that simple. But I had an even stronger motive for wanting her with me. I wanted her to experience the wilderness. I wanted her to share my love for the wild country. She wasn't excited to go. There is no question that this was an act of love on her part.

Denying SELF (doing what YOU want) for the love of another person is a beautiful thing in God's eyes. It not only leads to new experiences we would never choose on our own, but also strengthens the bonds of love between those who share life. So? Step outside your comfort zone. Do something with another person that THEY love to do, and you will be blessed! -Pastor Brad
