Live Your Faith
The temperature was −32° and getting warmer. I called my buddies and said, "Let's go." We had agreed upon −30° as our 'cut off' for whether or not to go ptarmigan hunting on our snowshoes. As crazy as it sounds, we had learned through trial-and-error in the severe cold that we were able to hold our shotguns with bare hands at that temperature. Not right out of the truck, of course, but after piling on heavy gear and generating tremendous heat while walking 10 or 15 minutes on long Alaskan snowshoes. Activity didn't change the temperature of the world around us, but it most certainly increased our own temperature.
The same thing is true spiritually. If you feel lukewarm or cold in your faith, the problem isn't the temperature of the world around you. The world will always be cold toward Christ. The problem is that you've been sedentary- you haven't been active- you haven't been working. SERVING generates heat. PRAYING (not mouthing a few words, but honestly staying in one place for an hour and PRAYING) generates heat. Spending time in spiritual conversation with a brother or sister in the Lord generates heat. Be an ACTIVE Christian- LIVE your faith-and you will be blessed! -Pastor Brad
