Follow Him
My dad used to say, "I've never been lost, but once I was bewildered for 4 days." I was born with an amazing internal compass. I somehow intuitively know what direction I'm walking, and no matter how much I wander I can turn around and point toward my starting place. But last year, in the middle of the forest, my destination was not where I thought it would be. I expected to come out in a clearing. Instead I just found more woods. As always, I had been so confident about where I was going. I knew that I was within a mile of my camp, I just couldn't find it. For the first time in a long time I felt lost, utterly and completely bewildered.
This is the story of most of our neighbors- of most people everywhere. They are very confident about the direction they are heading. Some choose the party life of alcohol and drugs, and for many it's still exciting and fun. Some choose education and career and they are so confident that they know where they are headed. Everyone has their sights set on something that they need or desire.
But every one of those people will one day realize how utterly lost they have been. The drug life in their teens and 20's turns very ugly in their 30's and beyond. The emptiness of money and success catches up with others. Friends, there is only ONE WAY home, and if you are not following Jesus, you won't get there. Follow him. Point your friends and neighbors to him and you will be blessed! -Pastor Brad
