We Need To Move

I've always enjoyed fishing from shore much more than fishing from a boat. I trace this back to my childhood when we would launch our boat on the Mississippi River in the dark and be out all day. No bathroom breaks, no stopping in somewhere to eat lunch, just long days in a small aluminum boat out on the water. Don't get me wrong. I'm not opposed to fishing from a boat. In fact, I generally like it- especially if I am running the boat. The problem I've always had is that for me, sitting still is a form of torture. I like the freedom and the movement that I have when I'm on shore. It's not so much about being in control. It's just that when I'm on shore or running the boat I have the ability to alleviate my suffering.
I prefer the kind of fishing that Jesus' disciples did. They continuously moved their boats, they knew the best places to fish, they cast their nets again and again. It was active and intentional pursuit of the fish, not sitting around waiting for the fish to come to them. This is the model Christ gave them for making disciples.
They went from door-to-door, business-to-business, town-to-town, having discussions with anyone who would listen, telling them the good news of a Savior. Friends, we need to MOVE. We need to be INTENTIONAL. We need to SEEK and PURSUE opportunities to be a witness. Be a 'fisher of men' and you will be blessed! -Pastor Brad
