Aim For Good
In my experience, usually violent winds on top of a mountain blow horizontally. In other words, all you need to do is drop off the summit to find calm- the wind will be blowing above you and you won't feel it. Occasionally, however, those incredibly strong winds will blow straight down the side of a mountain like a freight train going downhill. That was our Friday morning. We were forced to look up continuously to stay on course, but we had to lean into the wind to keep from literally being blown backwards. Our exposed faces were being pelted with blowing snow.
It was somehow.. exhilarating! Something deep inside of us craves a challenge- a personal victory to be won at a cost. Perhaps this is a part of God's image being reflected through us. Victory at great cost. For a short period of time life wasn't SAFE, but it was GOOD. When it comes to the cost of following Christ, safety is overrated. In fact, when it comes to matters of faith, it doesn't have a seat at the table.
Trust me, our time in this 'tent' of a body is short. Don't aim for SAFE, aim for GOOD. In this way, you will one day hear the words, "Well done, GOOD and FAITHFUL servant, enter in to your master's rest!" Be blessed! -Pastor Brad
