I Will Give You Rest

Hebrews 12:28 says, "Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe." We know a little bit about being 'shaken' in Alaska. As unbelievable as it may sound to you, Alaska averages between 50 and 100 earthquakes per DAY. That's a lot of shaking! Our last really big one was about 5 years ago. One of our church leaders lost his home, the local McDonald's had to be leveled and rebuilt, a local Middle School had to be leveled and rebuilt. Many roads were completely destroyed, including much of the road to my home high on Bear Mountain.

In times of natural disaster we are reminded of how little control we have over many things in life. But we also see people racing to help others, pitching in to solve problems, and working together to restore what has been broken. GOOD coming out of BAD- hope rising from the ashes. But it isn't just earthquakes- many things in life cause us to be 'shaken.'

A loved one dies, a spouse walks out, the doctor says, "It's cancer"... and suddenly life changes in dramatic and unwanted ways. The good news? Christ offers to every person a kingdom that cannot be shaken! He says, "Come to me, you who are weary and carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest." Be blessed! -Pastor Brad
