Live In Nearness To Christ

It had been a long day, and much longer for my young son. I don't know how many miles we walked, but we had been walking all day. I was actually thankful to spot my bright yellow tent in the distance, because the sun went down just before we got back to camp. Thankfully we still had enough light to shoot, because a caribou glided past about 100 yards from the tent. Hunter made a great shot, and as the temperature was already in the low 40's and dropping, we just gutted it and decided to cut it up the next morning. That may or may not have been the right decision.
A grizzly came in overnight and completely ate the hind quarters right to the bone and half the backstrap. It was a stark reminder that even in the wilderness we are not alone, and that there IS danger in the world. This same thing is true spiritually. We are never alone. Jesus said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you;" and, "Lo, I am with you always, to the very end of the age." But God also tells us, "Your enemy, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour."
Our safety is found in nearness to Christ. David wrote in Psalm 23, "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me." Live in nearness to Christ, and you will be blessed! -Pastor Brad
