Be Still
I was sitting on a small cutbank with my legs dangling. About twenty feet beneath me was a tiny trickle of water. I saw the tiniest flash of brown in the brushy bottom, and shortly after saw two grizzly cubs, each about the size of a football. They were followed by the largest interior bear I'd ever seen. Everything had gone from peaceful to extreme danger in a moment. I had my rifle with me, but it's illegal to shoot a sow with cubs unless you are being attacked. She must have gotten a whiff of my scent because she paused underneath me and lifted her nose into the air- 'huffing.'
If I tried to stand up from that awkward position, she would be on me before I could get my rifle up. My heartbeat sounded like a beating drum in my ears. My only course of action was to remain completely still and hope she didn't see me. There are times in life when we face things that give no clear course of action- no good options.
The very best thing that we can do is to BE STILL. Waiting can be hard, but GOD IS MOVING behind the scenes. A pathway WILL open for you to move forward. Psalm 46:10 says, "BE STILL, and know that I am God." Be blessed! -Pastor Brad
