Persevere

Many of us have experienced the frustration of putting a lot of time and energy into something only to discover we were doing it the wrong way. Just because we're moving doesn't mean we are headed in the right direction, does it? My dad and I had spent days looking for caribou without success. We finally saw a small band of cows miles away on top of a mountain. My dad is an excellent hunter, but he was not accustomed to climbing with a backpack. It was a long, slow climb to the top, and when we finally got there- feeling the surge of victory- we discovered that we were on the wrong mountain!
We had two choices: 1) Quit; or, 2) Drop all the way into the valley behind this mountain and begin climbing again. I left the decision up to my dad, and he wanted to keep climbing. Here's the thing so many people never stop to consider- when you persevere you continue to have a chance of success. When you become discouraged and quit, your chance of success is ZERO. This is why God talks so much about the importance of persevering.
Galatians 6:9 says, "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." When we reached the top of the second mountain, we found a huge bull caribou that we didn't know was there. My dad made an excellent shot, and the rest is history. Persevere- don't let discouragement stop you in your tracks- and you will be blessed! -Pastor Brad
