The Way Of Holiness

The bull was standing looking at us 100 yards away. One hundred yards of flat, level ground with very little brush. Getting the meat out was going to be an easy pack.... that's what I was thinking. My partner had a different idea. He wanted to try to get it with a bow and arrow. It was the 1st of September and the rut hadn't started. I knew that there was absolutely no way he could get close to that bull. As we started, he carried his bow, and I carried his rifle. The moose took off running immediately, and thanks to our youth and the terrain, we were able to run hard through the valley.
When the bull stopped offering an easy broadside shot, I handed my friend his rifle. His first shot hit a hind leg just above the hoof. His second shot grazed hair off the top of the back. The moose took off on a dead run. My partner couldn't shoot again because he had only brought two bullets. The rest were back at camp. Ugh! I was utterly disgusted. We climbed a ridge and continued to keep the moose in sight until we were over a mile from camp.
There are many times in life when we make things much harder than they need to be. On this day it was my partner, but believe me, I've made life unnecessarily hard many times myself. Friends, there IS a BETTER path. There is a high road. Isaiah 35:8 says, "And a highway will be there. It will be called The Way Of Holiness. It will be for those who walk on that Way. The unclean will not journey on it. Wicked fools will not go about on it." Get your mind right. Control your tongue. Do the right thing. Life can be hard enough without our adding to our problems! Choose to walk on The Way of Holiness, and you will be blessed!
