Embrace Life's Work

I watched my partner head out with "his' moose as I made something to eat. I was now hunting on my own. A lot of people would probably have quit, but I had limited time to hunt and two families (ours and Laura's parents) counting on me to bring home meat to last through the winter. I saw a number of cows during the day, but no bulls. I decided to pull up and move to a second walk-in area, and just before dark stumbled on another young bull. Even though it was a short pack, it was long after dark by the time I had him cut up and carried out. What a day!

The Lord had provided beyond all reasonable expectation, and had given me the health and strength for the task. I had cut up two moose and carried one and a half in the same day! I lived in Copper River and was hunting three and a half hours from home. It was too warm outside to hang my meat, so I decided to make a long day even longer by heading for home. Isn't it amazing how many of God's blessings have WORK attached? Marriage is a blessing. Work. Children are a blessing. Work. A job is a blessing. Work. A home is a blessing. Work.

Even our smaller possessions often come with their share of work. It is good for us to remember that even in a perfect world God gave Adam and Eve meaningful work. Teach your children the value of hard work. Allow them to experience the satisfaction of a job well done. Don't be afraid to let them stretch their limits and go beyond what they think they are able to do. Don't try to avoid it- EMBRACE life's WORK, and you will be blessed! -Pastor Brad
