Invest In Friends
The majority of my success over the years has been on 'solo' hunts. Even on my first Dall Sheep hunt my partners and I split up, camped and hunted separately. My solo hunts are driven more of necessity than choice. As a public school teacher, I was only given two vacation days a year. That prevented me from joining with the vast majority of hunters who go out for at least a week. Now, as a pastor, I need to be home preaching on the weekends, which does not fit with most hunting parties. My choices are very often 'go alone' or 'don't go.'
Don't misunderstand me, I'm not complaining. I am extremely comfortable in the wilderness by myself... right up to the moment I harvest a big animal... or get my machine stuck in a bad place... THEN I much prefer hunting with partners. Many people are like this in life. They prefer doing things 'solo' until... they face a project they can't do... a heavy weight of loneliness sets in... You name it- a solo life has limitations and disadvantages.
This is why God says in Ecclesiastes 4:9, "Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work." Two aren't just DIFFERENT, two are BETTER! Share life. Invest in friends, and you will be blessed! -Pastor Brad
