Give Thanks By Faith

As I descended into the gorge the cliff walls closed in on me. What had started as a seep of water had turned into a trickle and now was a stream that I did my best to straddle.  When I reached the choke point, I discovered that I was standing on top of a ten to twelve foot waterfall with the stream flowing between my legs. Fortunately, I had a rope in my pack. After securing everything and tightening all my straps, I simply dropped my pack over the edge of the fall and it tumbled out of sight. Then I lowered my rifle down the flowing stream of water until it finally stopped and rested beneath me. Then, with my back to the cliff wall and my hands bracing my body on each side of a crack down the cliff face, I began to descend.

This experience had gone from REALLY BAD to EVEN WORSE. How does the old expression go? Oh, yes- "When it rains, it pours!" When you find your circumstances going from bad to worse (and believe me, sooner or later this WILL happen) it is essential to MAINTAIN a HEART of GRATITUDE. Don't misunderstand me- God never tells us to give thanks FOR all circumstances. That would be ridiculous. He tells us to give thanks IN all circumstances. THAT we can do. No matter how hard things are, GIVE THANKS BY FAITH and you will be blessed! -Pastor Brad
