The Path To Freedom

So there I was, standing in the black spruce getting eaten alive by mosquitoes- stuck. My 4-wheeler was high centered in what amounted to a narrow, deep trench. Somehow I needed to tilt it up on its side so it would no longer be resting on the skid plate, and then throttle the 2 left wheels forward.

I knocked down and limbed a spruce tree that I could use as a pry bar. By jamming the 6 inch end of my log under the machine and putting the 8 inch end on my shoulder, I was able to lift, but I was so far away from the machine that I couldn't reach the throttle. I was a sweaty, mosquito-bitten mess as I sawed down 2 more spruce trees for additional logs.

With two logs under the machine, one on my left shoulder and one in my right hand, I tilted the machine with one and jammed the other as far as I could under the machine. I then repeated this with the third log. By repeating this process, eventually I had the machine tilted far enough that I could drive out of the trench.

Now here's the part I didn't tell you- I could have driven around the trench to begin with. Sometimes the fact that we are stuck in a bad place is totally unnecessary. We bought a car we couldn't afford. We left a job without having anything solid to go to. We entered a relationship that we knew was not honoring to the Lord. Stuck, stuck and stuck. There is no easy way out.

Every right move from one of those places involves a little pain- a little humility. We once paid a car dealer $400 to take a car off our hands just to get out from under payments we couldn't afford. Friends, when you are in a bad place because of your own decisions, be humble. Confess any sin to the Lord and then GO TO WORK. Take the right steps, no matter how painful they are. THIS IS THE PATH TO FREEDOM. There is no other. Be blessed! -Pastor Brad
