Be Wise

The next morning, we followed the small stream down until we found our packs. By the time we broke down our spike camp and carried that and our sheep up to our main camp, hours of hard labor were behind us. But we weren't finished yet. We were on a brutal, bone-jarring trail with the ATV's heavily loaded- often off-balance and in danger of tipping. There was a good deal of winching, lifting, pushing and mud.

By the time we finally made it out, aching and exhausted, my friend said, "Brad, I don't think I'll ever go on that trail again." We learn from each path we take in life. The main lesson from some of those journeys is, "I won't ever take this path again." This is nowhere more true than with America's young 'party' culture. Believe me, I know from experience. Sin is often fun and exciting up front. Alcohol, drugs, immorality- we are easily lured, aren't we?

But sin always takes you farther than you wanted to go, keeps you longer than you wanted to stay, and costs you more than you wanted to pay. Experience is not the best teacher, it's the 3rd best teacher. The BEST teacher is the Word of God. The 2nd best teacher is the experience of OTHERS who've made mistakes. Those who are wise don't insist upon making their own mistakes. They choose obedience rather than rebellion, righteousness rather than sin. Be wise and you will be blessed! -Pastor Brad
