Be A Good Steward

I had taken my first two bears in the same week, but I had never yet eaten bear. Laura did not even want me to cook it in her kitchen. I was working for minimum wage and she was working part-time, so we were living on an extremely tight budget. I put a roast in the crock pot on Sunday morning, which she only allowed on the condition that if we didn't like it I would take her out to lunch. We were both surprised to discover that it looked, smelled and tasted just like a good beef roast.

Over the years we have served hundreds of people bear roast who thought they were eating beef. What's my secret? 1) Keep the meat clean when you are skinning It;  and, 2) Get the meat cold in a hurry. In fact, when regulations force me to hunt in warm weather, I have often put my meat in a plastic compactor bag and set it in a river or lake. An hour later the meat is ice cold.

God entrusts many things to us. He expects us to care for those things. Food, finances, our home and possessions- all gifts and a sacred trust. Do you care well for what God has given you? Are you a good steward? We should be. Being a good steward is actually a form of gratitude, and gratitude is among the highest forms of praise. Be a good steward of all that you have, and you will be blessed! -Pastor Brad
