Keep Loving
Very few Alaskans travel to cold places over Christmas. Here in Minnesota, the temperatures have ranged from 34° on arrival to well below 0°. We've also had several days of snowfall. My parents hosted 30 for Christmas, 17 New Year's Eve, and dozens in between. Why would they go through all of the hard work, all of the inconvenience, all of the sacrifice? LOVE for FAMILY.
Where God gives blessing, he also gives responsibility. That baby you prayed for is now keeping you up at night. That home you worked so hard to purchase comes with clear instructions: "Practice hospitality." We are told to work hard so that we would have something to share with others. When God tells us to "love one another" he's speaking of an active love- a love that cares for one another's needs. And he is very clear about telling us that this starts at home.
The Bible tells us that "If anyone does not care for the needs of his relatives, especially for those in his own family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever." Friends, if you want a close-knit family, then invest in those relationships- even if it is one-sided. Love and KEEP LOVING, and you will be blessed! -Pastor Brad
