Stand For What Is Right
Larry asked, "Where did you go? When we got up in the morning the sheep were gone, so we waited for you but you never came."
I said, "I shot one too."He asked, "Where did you find him? There was only one legal ram in that bunch of seven."
I said, "Another ram must have joined them overnight. When I found them this morning there were eight in the bunch with two legal rams. After I cut mine up I brought him down to this ice field because I knew I had to get the meat cold."
This was August 10th, and we were standing on a patch of last year's snow and ice on the valley floor. Only in Alaska. That's when I saw Tim headed our way with a full pack. The ram's cape, head and horns were perched on top, making a picture that could have graced the cover of a hunting magazine. What had drawn us to this place? Snow and ice, yes, but why? To PRESERVE something of VALUE. in the same way, Jesus says that you and I are the salt of the Earth. Salt adds flavor to be sure, but it has a more important function. Salt PRESERVES what is GOOD. It battles corruption.
As a whole, the church in America hasn't done very well in the past 50 years. Why? Because we've kept our 'salt' inside the walls of the church. Salt must be applied liberally if it is to do any good, and it needs to be applied in those places that need it most. Those places are outside the walls of the church. When you speak God's truth to others throughout your everyday life, you are applying salt. You are helping to preserve what is good and to eliminate corruption. Stand for what is right- publicly, firmly, with grace and conviction, and you will be blessed! -Pastor Brad
