Don't Give Up

While Laura's climb ended with disappointment after she missed a trophy Dall sheep, she continued to venture into the wilderness with me.  On our next trip, I made sure that she had all of the right gear, and she took her first caribou. On our first trip, she had intended to relax at camp with a good book while my partner and I hunted moose. Of course any smart (physically fit) hunter heading into Alaska's interior brings tags for whatever game is open- bear, sheep, caribou and moose. We ran across a legal ram, and because my partner and I had already taken our sheep that year, it was Laura's opportunity.

I learned a valuable lesson about making sure that EVERYONE in camp has the right gear. In the coming years, Laura had many successful hunts because SHE DIDN'T QUIT after that first tough experience. Most of us would never have learned how to ride a bike.If we had quit after the first time we fell down. There would be no Major League baseball if every player quit after the first time he struck out.

Persistence pays. The same thing is true when it comes to our witness for Christ. Many people are not open to an invitation to come to church. Many are unwilling to have a spiritual discussion. But if you PERSIST out of GENUINE LOVE and CONCERN for others, SOME WILL COME! If anything is worth doing- PERSIST! Don't give up, and you will be blessed! -Pastor Brad
