His Covenant Promise
39 roses. It's an odd number, to be sure. Each one represents a different year of my life. No, I'm not saying that I'm 39 years old- that birthday is well behind me. It's been 39 years since I said two little words that changed my life. I said, "I do." Those words are not a guarantee, they are a covenant promise. A bride and groom promise to LOVE each other. They do not promise to be IN love. They do not promise to always FEEL love. They do not promise to "love my spouse IF my spouse loves me." No, the covenant is much more simple and practical than that.
It is a covenant of DOING, not a covenant of FEELING. It is something you CHOOSE to do no matter how you are feeling. "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this- while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." He did not set a bar and say, "IF you meet my standard today, THEN I will love you." He didn't say, "IF you please me- IF you do what I say- THEN I will love you." We are His bride, and His love for us is based on His covenant promise. Love your spouse today, and you will be blessed! -Pastor Brad
