Wisdom over Pride
As we made our way alongside the river, carrying raft and gear, we noticed a number of places that we felt were too dangerous to raft. "We'll need to pull out right here and portage." Those words were heard again and again. Because of the grade, we expected Class IV whitewater, but we were seeing a lot of Class V. Then we passed where an avalanche had covered the riverbed but the river had melted its way through. It was a short, tight tunnel, but there was enough headroom for us to raft our way through it...
but should we...?
but should we...?
All of life carries an element of risk, but sometimes we don't discover exactly how great a risk until after we're committed. What then? ADVANCE or RETREAT? Most often wisdom says, "Stop. Find a different way." Pride, on the other hand, rises up and says, "What will other people think? Go forward!" Friend, never let PRIDE or the opinions of others pressure you to make a bad decision. Pray. Seek WISE (godly) counsel. If you know a decision is wrong, don't be afraid to walk away. Live this way, and you will be blessed! -Pastor Brad
