Choose To Be Thankful

With our machines still idling in the bitter cold, we were finally able to put on our warm gear and get ready to ride. Another friend was off-loading at the same time as us. Seeing that we were having problems, he walked over to our machines and asked, "Did you bring extra gas?" I said, "No." He replied, "Then you better follow me to my cabin. You're almost out of gas. I have some there." A short while before we had been at a gas station so my son David could fill up his machine. I told him mine was full.

Let's review. Bitter cold (−17°), machines wouldnt start, flat tire on the trailer, jack was broken, and now I didn't look when I was at the gas station to see if I needed gas. That glass is 'half- empty.' But let's turn things around. A rare day to spend with my son, snowmachines that DID eventually start, a son strong enough to lift the trailer so I could change out the tire, and a good friend 'just happened' to come along way out in the middle of nowhere when I needed gas. THAT glass is full... overflowing!

Having a right perspective changes things, doesn't it? I was thankful because I CHOSE to be thankful. Instead of muttering and complaining (or worse) I chose to be joyful, and we had a great day. Friends, YOU control your thoughts, and thoughts drive emotions and behavior. CHOOSE to be THANKFUL, and you will be blessed! -Pastor Brad
