Consider Your Ways
As the temperatures dropped, our rain turned into snow. With the wind, we had an actual 'Minnesota-type' blizzard. High on the mountain, we got about 6 inches. The snow's undercoating of freezing rain made the roads treacherous. Alaskans are used to driving on snow. The ice hidden underneath was the problem.
So often in life, the danger is hidden beneath the surface. I once listened to a young woman's story. Her family was well off. They lived on the hillside in Anchorage. Alcohol was a regular part of her parents' life and drinking looked like fun. She was a popular cheerleader when she got her first DUI. In her early 20's, the mother of two, she was working in a prestigious career when she got her second DUI. It was quite honestly only a few drinks after work.
But this time she ran into a pedestrian and killed him. She was in prison and someone else was raising her children. Alcohol was a part of a lot of fun nights. She was not a heavy drinker by any standards, but there was a danger lurking beneath the surface- a danger this young woman didn't see because she didn't WANT to see it.
Examine your life. Be wise. Be careful. Even innocent activities aren't necessarily right for YOU. Those who are spiritually mature don't ask, "What is PERMISSIBLE?" Instead they ask, "What is BENEFICIAL? What makes my life and my family STRONGER?"
Haggai 1:5-7 "Now, therefore," says the Lord of hosts, "Consider your ways. You have sown much and harvested little. You eat, but you never have enough. You drink, but you never have your fill. You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm. And he who earns wages does so to put them into a bag with holes." Thus says the Lord of hosts, "Consider your ways." Be blessed! Pastor Brad
