Small Focused Steps
I spent a long time skinning the sheep. I took the entire hide and hooves and made sure that my job was taxidermy quality. I knew a guy who bought my sheep hides for $1,500. Along the way, I carefully boned out the meat, laying it on a tarp to keep it clean. By the time I added the hide, meat, and skull with horns to a pack that already had a rifle, ammo, spotting scope, rain gear, warm gear, water bottle, etc., I had well over 140 pounds.
What did I discover? That I wasn't as strong as I used to be. I couldn't carry the pack. For the first time in many successful hunts, I carried out my sheep in two trips. This was hard for my ego. It was a source of pride that I always brought my sheep and camp out in one trip. But here's the deal- I ultimately carried the same amount of weight- but I 'worked smarter not harder.' Rather than walking away from a task that you feel is too difficult, be creative. Ask for help when you can. Think of other ways to do the job if you can't.
Imagine Noah's overwhelming sense of hopelessness when God gave him the dimensions of the Ark. He couldn't possibly build a ship four stories tall and longer than a football field, but he could knock down one tree and square the log... and then another... and then another... Perhaps you don't feel confident about leading someone to Christ, but you can invite her to church... pray for him... tell her what God is doing in YOUR life. With small, focused steps, you can accomplish great things for God. Be blessed! -Pastor Brad
