Plan Aim Work

I was hunting in central Montana with my bow and arrow. I had tags for elk, deer and antelope, and was hunting in country that had all three. I was an 'instinctive' shooter. I had never shot a bow that had sights. In those days our arrows were very heavy, so between 30 yards and 40 yards my arrow would drop over a foot.

Estimating distance properly was the most critical piece of bow hunting once you were a good shot. You had to KNOW how far it was to your target if you wanted to be successful. Someone taught me this poem when I was a child: "I shot an arrow in the air. It fell to ground I know not where."

Some people live their lives like this. They don't have a target. They don't have a goal for today, much less a long-range goal. They are aiming for 'nothing in particular' and are often frustrated that their wishes are not being realized. If you want to succeed, aim for something specific. Have a clear target. Gauge the distance. Proverbs 21:5 says, "The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance." PLAN, AIM, WORK- and you will be blessed! -Pastor Brad
