For Them That Believe
I enlisted in the infantry without even knowing what infantry was. The recruiter told me that I would be able to choose a job once I got to basic training. My drill sergeants got a good laugh out of that one. One of them said, "Boy, you done chose." Some choices- even big choices- we make in total ignorance. This is how I was spiritually- ignorant. Because of that, I made many choices that were not only utterly opposed to God's will, but from a practical standpoint they were utterly opposed to what was good for me. My life was FILLED with bad choices, and because I was ignorant, I didn't care. Pitiful, isn't it?
I didn't know it, but an elderly widow in Montana was praying for me to be saved. In answer to her prayers, God had a stranger invite me to a Bible study. Though I went with wrong motives (he said there would be lots of girls there), that is where I first heard the gospel. That is where I was saved. Finally I understood the truth that was all around me my whole life.
Friends, don't be upset with the people you know who are not saved. Don't be upset with those who are promoting evil. They are ignorant. Pray for them. Invite them to church. John Newton, who was once a slave trader and also once a slave, later wrote, "I once was lost but now am found- was blind, but now I see." The gospel is "the power of God unto salvation for them that believe." Be blessed! -Pastor Brad
