Some Will Be Saved

My dad used to say, "I've never been lost in the woods, but once I was bewildered for about 4 days." Being lost is an unomfortable feeling for anyone, but people have very different thresholds for when and if panic sets in. While most of the world (understandably) finds security in the familiar, there are a certain few who love the challenge and the adventure of being completely 'out of their element.' They love being 'intentionally' lost. I'm one of those people. But here's the deal- we only love it because we KNOW that we will find our way home.

The people who get into the most trouble are the ones who don't know they are lost. Why? Because they continue in the wrong direction and get into deeper and deeper trouble. They often end up in places where search teams don't even think to look- places that don't make any sense. Think of this in spiritual terms. The hardest people to rescue are those who are lost but don't know it- those who intentionally go in the wrong direction- and our culture and communities are full of them. They can seldom be argued or debated into understanding that they are lost.

They need two things: they need people who are NOT lost to love them enough to walk with them; and, they need to HEAR the words of God. True, you and I are a critical part of the rescue party, but only Jesus can do the rescuing. "The gospel (the good news about Jesus) is the power of God unto salvation for them that believe." Don't avoid lost people. Don't get angry with them. Love them, serve them and speak God's truth. Trust me (trust GOD) some WILL be saved! Be blessed! -Pastor Brad
