Love Well

As you read through God's commandments you discover that every one is intended to make sure that we LOVE well. "Don't lie, don't steal, honor your parents, worship God..." In fact, Jesus acknowledged that the first and greatest commandment is this: "Love the Lord your God with all of your heart and all of your soul and all of your mind and all of your strength." He said that the second greatest commandment is this: "Love your neighbor as you love yourself." It's all about LOVE. It's ALWAYS been about love.

But remember this- love is not a feeling, it's an ACTION. You express love by what you say, but you PROVE LOVE by WHAT YOU DO. If you truly love God, you bring him the first 10% of your income. He says that it belongs to him and that you are robbing him if you don't. You don't steal from people you love. If you truly love God, you belong to a church family where you worship and serve others. He says that his church can never be complete without you.

If you truly love God, you will share your faith with others and invite them to church. He says that his power is given to us to be WITNESSES of his forgiveness and salvation. And if we truly love God, we will love other people. This means we will be kind and generous and encouraging and patient and forgiving. Loving this way takes practice. You need to be intentional. You need to make a plan every day and every week, and stick with it. To love is to embrace the life you were designed to live. Love well, and you will be blessed! -Pastor Brad
