So Do It
The human body is an amazing machine. People who have virtually destroyed their lungs smoking find tremendous healing within a single year of quitting. Skin that is cut and bones that break grow back together. Even a level of fitness and strength can be reclaimed and restored. But none of those things can be made brand new- not in this lifetime. The opposite is true spiritually. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old is gone.
The new has come." When you became a Christian, you were made brand new. Every past sin was both forgiven and forgotten. The person who did those things is dead and gone. Because Christ has given us new life, we are able to speak with boldness and confidence. We are no longer locked into the guilt and shame of our past. We are able to say truthfully, "That's who I WAS, it's not who I AM." And this 'clean slate' is not a one-time offer.
In the same way that we forgive others who sin against us, God continues to forgive our sins. He continuously gives us a fresh start. Embrace this new life. God has planted you right where you are in order to bring HIS love and joy into your little corner of the world. It's a brand NEW day. It's a brand NEW you. You have a brand NEW opportunities to love and serve and encourage and be generous to others. So DO IT, and you will be blessed! -Pastor Brad
